How to View Your State's Legislative Voting Records
So YOU know how to vote โ and hold your representatives accountable.
Every US state has an official legislative portal where you can track both the text of bills and the voting history of representatives.
Step 1 โ Find Your State's Portal
Locate your state's specific portal using the comprehensive directory at:
Ballotpedia โ State Legislative Websites DirectoryStep 2 โ Search for Bills or Your Representative
Once on your state's site, you have two options:
- โSearch for a specific bill or resolution to view its full text and current status in the legislative process.
- โLook up your specific representative to view their individual "voting record" or "roll call" list โ every bill they voted yes or no on.
Why This Matters
Since the 2020 election, many states have turbocharged their efforts to restrict voting access. The January 2025 through April 2026 total of 44 restrictive laws has already surpassed the previous two-year high of 43 set in 2021โ22 โ and the year is not yet over.
Knowing how your state legislators voted on these laws is the first step to holding them accountable at the ballot box.
